Gor Mahia are at the top of the table with 27 points from 13 matches and boast of their recent SportPesa Super Cup triumph in Tanzania where they hit AFC Leopards in the final match of the tournament .
Batoto ba Mungu are currently placed at position six of the league, seven points shy of the leaders but they are not scared ahead of the duel.
P Live visited the Sam Ssimbwa coached outfit during their last training session at Eastleigh High School ground on Friday where the coaches promised fans a win against K’Ogalo.
Assistant coach John Baraza recognized Gor Mahia’s achievements in the SportPesa Super Cup tournament but explained that Sofapaka will eventually prevail in the league match.
“We should expect a win according to what I’ve seen on the training ground. I’m very sure that we are going to get good results over the weekend.
“First, we have to give them (Gor Mahia) thumps up because they were representing the country in SportPesa Super Cup competition and they did well but that’s a different ball game when it comes to the league. We are very much aware of what they can do and we have prepared well too to counter them.
“We have a full house squad; we have no injuries and we are happy for that; we are ready for that match,” he told P Live.
On his part, head coach Sam Ssimbwa asserted that K’Ogalo are only favourites on paper and that beating them is a possible thing on the pitch.
“Gor Mahia are better than us on paper but football involves so many factors so we respect them because they have many good players, but we are up to task. We have trained well and I know we are going to have a good result against them.
“I now urge all our fans to come in large numbers; we will not disappoint them,” he told P Live.
The match will be played as from 3:00pm.
