The countrywide doctors’ strike is in its seventh week with talks between the medics and the government bearing no fruits as each party continues to take a hard line stance over the matter.

Health care matters in the country seem to be taking a turn for the worse after about 5,000 clinical officers joined the doctors and nurses from Sunday after what they termed “discrimination” as they push for a higher pay.

The health care and medical industry is quite expansive and these professionals can seek alternative and lucrative medical business ideas and make money without necessarily owning or working in hospitals.

Here are eight health care and medical business ideas and opportunities valid in Kenya which can provide health care professionals with a stable source of income.

1. Medical Laboratories:

A medical laboratory or clinical laboratory is a laboratory where tests are usually done on clinical specimens in order to obtain information about the health of a patient as pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

These wastes which are largely hospital wastes have difficulties being handled properly because of the sensitive nature of their causes or potential effects.

5. Skin Care Centres

Skin care centres carry out services that help maintain the integrity of our skins through practices in nutrition, sun protection, cosmetics, skin relief treatments, and a lot more.

Doctors that generally handle skin related cases are largely called dermatologists.

One can also promote the centre through social awareness means and other strategic partnerships.

8. Weight Loss Clinic

Weight loss is one of the biggest sectors in the health care industry.

Most people especially women worry about their over-weight status and are looking for every means to shed some weight.
