Research by leading health global authority the World Health Organization says that drinking hot tea could kill you.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified drinking hot beverages as a probable carcinogen, a substance that causes cancer in living tissue.
A group of 23 scientists from IARC, the cancer agency of the World Health Organization linked lattes and a select kind of tea to esophageal cancer due to the high temperatures they are drinking in.
But we've got good news for the coffee prone.
When the same group of geniuses from 10 different countries also evaluated available studies on coffee and cancer, they fessed up for their erroneous years of believing Coffee could cause cancer.
Yup, it's the complete opposite, they stated in their report:
Many studies have been done to determine whether coffee can lower cancer risk because coffee beans contain antioxidants which are thought to have a protective effect against cancer. But the overall results are not clear, and in many of the studies that showed a lowered risk, the benefit was found in people who drank 4 to 6 cups of coffee a day. Too much caffeine leads to health problems for some people, by interfering with sleep, triggering migraines, and causing digestive problems. And if cream and sugar are added, the extra fat and calories can contribute to weight gain – which increases the risk for many types of cancer.
This concludes that coffee is unlikely to cause breast cancer, prostate cancer, or pancreatic cancer. Reduced risks were seen for liver cancer land endometrial cancer.
Add fruits and veggies to your diet for more antioxidants to lower your risk of getting cancer.
