You have decide to go on a diet to help you lose those extra kilos you gained but your stomach just won’t let you win.

It keeps growling and you keep staring at your workmate as they gobble down some tasty chips and chicken. Every bite they take feels like torture and the aroma- oh the aroma.

You are on the verge of giving up on your diet and sign up for a subscription at your local gym.

Before you give up on dieting completely you can try out these tricks that can help you handle those pesky cravings that will not let you prosper.

Drink water

Dehydration can easily be confused for hunger and being on a diet can easily make you lose your mind.

Whenever you feel hungry while on a diet, you can try drink some water to help calm down those cravings.

You also get the benefits of hydration as a plus.

Eat healthy snacks

Have a couple of healthy snacks such as freshly cut carrots, apples and pears to help you get through the day.

Fruits and vegetables are low in calories and rich in fiber which makes them the perfect snack for when you are on a diet.

Do not skip meals

You are already on a diet, don’t push it by skipping a meal. Have three balanced meals – meaning a carbohydrate, protein and fat- that will help you get through the day.

Rules of eating food still apply even when you are on a diet.

Get a distraction

Take on a new activity such as walking or reading a book to help take your mind off the fact that you are hungry. As long as it keeps you out of the kitchen just do it.

It helps you not to focus on your hunger.

Get enough sleep

Research has shown that sleep deprivation influences hunger and appetite. Adjust your sleep routine so that you get a good eight hours of sleep every day.
