The rate of crime within Nairobi is on a constant rise following the recent crack-down on criminal gangs within the city.

From killing innocents to engaging in illegal trading of guns and drugs, the presence of the criminal gangs is becoming a matter of concern especially for the residents of the gang-stricken areas.

A recent in-depth research into the criminal gangs within Nairobi revealed some of the neighborhoods that the gangs have been terrorizing. They include:-

Matopeni slums

Ruai

Mihango

Njiru

Kayole

Saika

Dandora

Police officers have been using pseudo social media accounts such as Hessy wa Dandora and Hessy wa Kayole to warn the members of criminal gangs to stop engaging in criminal activities.

Sparked by the killings of teenage gang members, Claire Njoki and Marsha Minaj, the manner in which the situation is being handled has been openly revealed through social media sites such as Facebook and Whatsapp, where photos of deceased gang members have been circulating in a bid to curb crime within these communities.

The new ‘strategy’ being used by the police behind the Facebook accounts is reportedly to show members of the criminal gangs the consequences they will face if they do not stop, if a recent quote from the pseudo Facebook account Hessy wa Dandora is anything to go by.

“I WILL NOT ANSWER THIZ QUESTION but i MUST have something to tell u media pple: the war on crime is live, nd we will use any possible way to bring down criminals even if it means using POISON to kill them: coz they're NOT USEFUL to us in any way: thiz is the time u shld be advertising articles in BOLD LETTERS to teach youths the negative impacts of engaging in criminal activities not asking if police are justified to use social media to fight crimes! Which interest do u have in thiz criminal activities???? Y do u create controversial topics in ua newspapers??? WEZI WA KIMABAVU, WATAJIPANGA THIZ TIME ROUND!!!!!” Posted Hessy Wa Dandora.
