The former Prime Minister was born on January 7, 1945 in Maseno of Kisumu County and son of Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

He is running through the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) affiliated to the new outfit National Super Alliance (NASA) with former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.

In his vicious campaigns, Odinga’s focus is more on the youth and has in many cases promised to help them gain access to employment and education.

He served as Minister of Energy from 2001 to 2002 and as Minister of Roads, Public Works, and Housing from 2003 to 2005. Odinga has been vocal in championing for Kenya’s liberation and is currently leading a joint opposition team made up of over ten political parties against Uhuru Kenyatta.

He lost to Uhuru in 2013 by a margin of about 800,000 votes after contesting the outcome in the High Court. Odinga is making a fourth stab at the presidency after losing in 2013, 2007 and 1997. Odinga is a Mechanical Engineer.
